Webinar CCUS Projects Network

Webinar: North-South-East-West: building political support for CCS and CCU in Europe

Public event (webinar) organized by the CCUS Projects Network

When: Tuesday, May 25th 10:00 am to 12:30 pm CET

Event description

Carbon Capture Storage and/or Utilisation (CCUS) is increasingly being acknowledged as a necessary tool to achieve the decarbonisation of the European economy by 2050. CCUS technologies have a role to play in facilitating the Just Transition, enabling skilled jobs in high-emitting industries to be retained, and allowing workers in oil and gas to apply their skills in the CO₂ transport and storage sector. At the moment, the majority of mature CCUS projects in Europe have been developed in Northern and Western European countries. However, CCUS could constitute a valuable tool in the decarbonisation of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) as well as Southern European economies. In the context of the EU Green Deal renewed interest in the deployment of CCUS technologies across different regions in Europe is being observed. The event will focus on how development of CCUS in and the role of national, regional and local actors in supporting this development.
