Key note speaker Prof Jon Gluyas, Chairman of British Geological Survey and Director of the Centre for Research into Earth Energy Systems (CeREES), announced that talks are ongoing for a CATO-like coordination of CCS research in UK. His overview of the CeREES activities showed that his institute is on the frontline of developments. The UK is preparing such a national research programme to even give more support, e.g. to the six CCS demo proposals submitted for European NER300 subsidies.
Other plenary speakers were Roald van Mastrigt about the Essent NER300 proposal, Arnold Mulder (RUG) about CCS and emissions trading, Earl Goetheer about nitrosamines and CATO2 program director Jan Brouwer.

The PhD speed presentations of one minute each showed a kaleidoscope of different topics. A jury of Daniel Jansen (ECN), Jinxue Hu (TNO) and Rolf de Vos (Ecofys) awarded Anne Pluymakers (storage) with a certificate of the best presentation. Runner-up Tim Wolterbeek impressed his audience by comparing the wellbores of an empty gas field with the holes in a cheese sandwich.

In the afternoon in-depth breakout sessions were held in which the sub programs shared their results. A short movie with 6 interviews of prominent scientists concerning adaptations within CATO concluded the programme, bridging to the traditional CATO BBQ.
All plenary and breakout session presentations and PhD speed presentations are available on the CATO website.
