SP0B Knowledge: education, dissemination and transfer
Project dissemination and international cooperation will be included as a staff function within the programme office and have a strong link with the Taskforce CCS and CCS network. The aim of this part of CATO-2 is to coordinate and generate the information flows within, into and outside the programme. The activities of this SP will not include promotion of and/or lobby for CCS.
The SP goals include:
- Dissemination of the results of CATO-2;
- Provide objective background information on CCS and contradict misconceptions on CCS;
- Improve cooperation and knowledge sharing within CATO-2;
- Distribution of knowledge on CCS developments to CATO-2 partners;
- Dialogue with stakeholders;
- Development of education on CCS when needed.
External disseminaton
CSS has grown out of laboratories and into physical installations in the real world. With this development, the need to inform the general public, media, NGOs and politics is growing. To provide these groups with the accurate information, the produced (scientific) knowledge needs to be easily accessible.
In the communication plan the several target groups will be identified, as well as their need for information. Based on this communication matrix, activities for the several target groups with there specific needs will be defined. In some cases there are misconceptions on CCS, both on the positive site like unrealistic expectations of the technology as well as negative site like the blow up of risks. Based on the inventory in WP 5.1 these misconceptions will be actively countered.
Internal communication and integration
The CATO-2 programme consists of more than 50 work packages, 35 parties and over a few hundred participants. The integration of the programme is critical and SP0b will take the lead to achieve this goal.
Sharing external information and dialog
CATO-2 is a demand driven programme, based on dialogue with stakeholders. This Work Package aims to provide the CATO-2 management with feedback on the programme and possible new research questions. SP0b also wants to collect and filter information on national and international developments on policy and demonstration projects and make this information easily accessible to the CATO partners.
CATO-2 in an international perspective
Many of the participants in CATO-2 also participate in international (EU) programs, where knowledge is already being transferred. CATO-2 as consortium will therefore not participate in the international programme, but the individual partners will. Also a international CCS liaison will be established in CATO-2 to participate in international bodies (e.g. in the IEA GHG Executive Committee).
Education
To achieve the ambition of a rapid implementation of CCS, a legion of (technical) experts is needed. Although all the different steps in the CCS chain are more or less based on existing technologies, extra and specialized experts are needed for implementation. This Work Package will inventory possible gaps in CCS education and gives recommendations to develop new educational modules or programmes.
